Reports to:  Team Leader  

Payroll Status:  Non-Exempt

Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the Team Leader, responsible for providing direct care supervision for youth residing in state custody group homes on a as needed basis. The incumbent assists in the development, assessment, facilitation and monitoring of program activities to ensure that appropriate care, security and supervision is provided to youth at all times. This position maintains an organized work schedule and is subject to work overtime. 

Essential Job Duties

  1. To adhere to all agency and program policies and procedures and work within the context of the agency team values – compassion and respect, excellence and teamwork.
  2. Supervise the general operation of residential facilities and activities of residents, taking necessary measures and following outlined policies and procedures to provide for the safety and well being of residents.  Provide coverage at any facility as assigned.
  3. Carry out the instructions of supervisory and medical staff related to health needs of residents.
  4. Provide coaching for assigned residents by offering support and guidance in order to help them with daily problems and concerns.
  5. Provide for the security of residents by conducting daily inspection of facilities, which includes room checks, making regular walks through facilities, checking of locked doors, outside lighting, and the whereabouts of residents.
  6. Conduct Life Skills assessment for assigned residents, and assist them in following a care plan appropriate to their needs.
  7. Ensure the proper maintenance, cleanliness and order throughout the house by inspecting the facility daily, regulating household supplies, and educating the residents in proper techniques and methods of cleaning and performance of house hold jobs.
  8. Prepare meals for residents and assist in training the residents to cook while ensuring the provision of special diet requirements. Supervise resident’s activities and conduct in the kitchen and dining room during all meals served to ensure quality food preparation and orderly behavior.  
  9. Transport residents to appointments, schools, activities, hospital, and elsewhere as necessary to ensure day to day needs and activities are not interrupted during their residence.
  10. Perform record keeping duties such as meal accountability records (USDA), behavior score sheets, work orders, and behavior reports.
  11. Consult on a regular basis with the Supervisor regarding the program and house operation.
  12. Actively participate in the Adventure Tracks program.
  13. Assure confidentiality of information related to clients, personnel and other information of confidential nature.
  14. Carry other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  15. Report all serious incidents involving clients to supervisory staff.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Graduation from high school and one year of experience working with children and youth  
  2. Valid driver’s license with good driving record and an insured vehicle available
  3. Required to pass an extensive background check.
  4. Ability to work within the framework of the agency and to follow and adhere to established agency procedures.
  5. Acceptance of agency objectives and appreciation for services provided.
  6. Capacity to use good judgment, possess leadership ability, and serve as role model for residents in care.
  7. Ability to function and operate as a member of a team and work with other agency staff members.
  8. Must be able to work flexible hours. Must occasionally lift 45 pounds.
