Nonprofit Membership Program

The Center for Nonprofits is proud to offer an affordable nonprofit membership program to organizations of all sizes and missions in the Chattanooga region.

Membership with the Center allows all staff, board members and volunteers of an organization to take advantage of the benefits detailed below. If you have questions about the Center's nonprofit membership program, please contact Cathy Mendez or 423-752-0329.

Training Nonprofit Staff , Volunteers & Board Members 

The CNP hosts a number of workshops each month. These workshops range from one hour sessions to full day classes on topics such as grant writing, volunteer management, marketing plans, social media, case statements, board development, special events, and human resources, among others. To help offset some of the expense of training, the CNP also offers partial scholarships to reduce workshop fees for qualified organizations who are current members of the Center for Nonprofits.

Provide Affordable Guidance and Consulting Services

The CNP offers affordable consulting services to nonprofits in the Chattanooga region and beyond. Our bank of consultants can help your organization with strategic planning, organizational assessments, board development, developing a volunteer program, board retreats, grant writing and review and more! Limited mini-grants are available to offset a portion of the cost for consulting services for Center for Nonprofits member organizations.

Provide Access to Nonprofit Specific Books and Grant Research Tools

The Center's resource library is open to everyone, but only current Center for Nonprofits members are able to check out books on a variety of nonprofit specific topics.  Browse our resource library online, or contact us for inquiries.  

In addition to having a huge variety of print resources and books, the Center is also a Funding Information Network partner of the Foundation Center's Foundation Directory, a grant research database, which allows our community to access their national database of public, private, and corporate foundations.  

Recruit Volunteers

In partnership with The Volunteer Center, member organizations gain access to the www.ihelpchattanooga.org volunteer recruitment and management software. This system allows nonprofits to manage and track volunteers, run reports on volunteer hours and post volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups in the Chattanooga region.    

Information Sharing

The Center for Nonprofits publishes a bi-weekly electronic newsletter with real time news, reports, and grant opportunities for the nonprofit community as well as upcoming CNP and community news. In addition, a monthly postcard is published providing information on upcoming workshops and events.   

Online Access to Resources, Templates and Policy Examples

The Center's member section of the website, accessible to only current Center for Nonprofits member organizations features valuable resources such as sample job descriptions and policies, and information on a variety of topics including board roles and responsibilities and internal controls and much more! We also offer the community a nonprofit employment opportunity page and a "Seek, Share, Swap and Give" page.                 

Inform Nonprofits of Future Funding Opportunities

GrantStation, an online research tool, publishes a bi-weekly newsletter, the GrantStation Insider. This publication provides information on government grants as well as public and privated funds in addition to information from GrantStation itself. Individuals who work for a CNP member organization are able to sign up to recieve these announcements.  

Connect Nonprofits to Potential Board Members

Do you need quality board members or are you looking to join a board? The Center often holds board recruitment events to help organizations find interested and qualified board members. In addition, United Way's Volunteer Center hosts an online volunteer recruitment site, www.ihelpchattanooga.org which allows nonprofits and interested community members to connect. The Center does provide training on the basic roles and responsibilities of a nonprofit board members are for new board members or those interested in serving on a nonprofit board of directors.

The CNP builds relationships with businesses to provide beneficial and cost saving programs for nonprofit organizations
